President Trump’s inaugural address, vowing a transfer of power out of Washington to the forgotten men and women of America, will be remembered as one of the most radical in the country’s history.
The new president, after swearing the constitutional oath, barely pausing to take all 21 guns of the military salute reserved for heads of state. He turned to an enormous crowd stretching to the Washington Memorial from the Capitol and almost immediately departed from the usual paean to the peaceful transfer of power.
“Today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People,” the President said.
